How do I Create a GIF?

A GIF is a short moving image. On CND, GIFs should be uploaded as photos/images, not as videos.

Creating a GIF

Most members create GIFs from a short video clip or a moving photo using a phone app, photo app, or GIF-making tool.

The exact steps depend on your device or app, but the general process is:

- choose a short video or moving photo
- trim it to the short part you want to use
- save or export it as a GIF file
- upload the GIF through the photo/image upload option on CND

Tips for Better Uploading

For best results, keep GIFs short and simple.

GIFs should have 100 frames or fewer and be 20 FPS or less.

If your GIF does not upload or does not preview correctly, try making a shorter or smaller version of the GIF and upload it again through the photo/image upload option.

Important

Do not upload GIFs through the video upload option. Video uploads and GIF uploads are handled differently on CND.

All GIFs must follow CND Community Standards and Media Standards.
